In 1945 Dr. Victor Anomalous and his rather odd associates have the second best chance of stopping the second world war. An alternative to the Atomic Bomb. But like most alternatives not chosen by history (The toothcomb, The eyedryer, and Tab soda to name a few) they get swept under the rug. In 1987 Dr. Victor Anomalous is alone, completely unaccomplished, and addicted to daytime television. That is, until he's ripped from his comfy chair and taken cross country to find himself again. It’s a coming of age story about a man at the end of his life.

The late night visitors, the constant experiments, and the stench of that lab, but far be it for my husband to ever take a step back from the operating table and see the world around him. Worse yet, I believe this whole ordeal will become much harder for our son. Poor Bacchus hardly sleeps any more, and when he does, he is awoken by dreadful night terrors. I have tried to comfort him during his fits of madness, but he is so desperately afraid that he claws and bites at me. During the day he refuses to talk about the dreams, or what has him so frightened. I have heard him, though, praying before sleep, asking God to stop the occupant and to keep him safe. It is in these moments that my heart goes out to him. For once I am gone there will be none to hear his prayers. Not his absent Father, not God, it will just be him alone, alone against the occupant.”
